Film Production
What is design thinking? Design thinking is a tool or
mindset that will get you to think about all aspects of a design before you even
start to create it, it makes you ask yourself who is this design aimed at and how
can I target that audience in the best way. It's important to be aware of
design thinking because not only will it make the project, you’re working in
better but other designers will be using it too in a professional setting as in
the video it is described a standard practice for digital designers. Design thinking
seems useful for projects that you are not given a very clear brief, or you're not given a brief at all, and you
get more freedom to create your own design, it also seems useful for advertisement
designs or designs aimed at a certain demographic.
The most usual thing for me with these videos is they all seemed to stress the
importance of the pre-production phase and how getting every thing ready to go
before you start makes it go a lot easier, tips like scouting the location
before filming and getting all the props and scripts planned out before the
shoot seem like the best thing to do and will make the production stage go a
lot smoother.
There are many skills that will be useful while doing this
project which is why I’m glad to be put into a group as while I am good at editing,
I am not as good at righting scripts, so I am hoping to learn from my group and maybe
even teach them something. Other useful skills would include time management,
being a good public speaker and being able to work well in a group.
The only thing discussed in the videos that I don’t think
apply to our group project is budgeting as this is our first time recording or
making a video like this I don’t think we are going to spend much money on it, and we will make it work with the equipment we have, or the college provides
with lucky for us is great as we get to use expensive cameras and have access to
top of the line computers.
